Hi, I'm Alana Bouley.

I founded Active Life Academy after 25 years of helping women move well and feel strong. I hold a Master's in Kinesiology and a Bachelor's in Human Performance (Exercise Physiology), and across my career I've worked as a strength and conditioning coach, a personal trainer, and a spinal rehabilitation therapist — with a long history of guiding women through post-surgery and joint-replacement recovery.

But just as much, I've lived this. I've been active my whole life, from playing soccer through college on. And still, when perimenopause came for my own body, it blindsided me. That's the moment everything I teach was born: women in the change don't need another generic, cookie-cutter program — the kind the internet is flooded with. We need training that meets our real bodies, our real history, and our real lives.

I also coach from a biblical worldview. I firmly believe we're called to be good stewards of the bodies God gave us — so my work is about strength and function, never vanity. Getting strong enough to serve, move, and live fully is the whole point.

How is this different from the Total Body Fitness course?
The course is a proven plan you follow on your own — and it's wonderful (it's even included here). Active Life 1:1 is the opposite of self-paced: I build your plan from scratch around your body, your injuries, and your goals, then adjust it with you every couple of weeks. It's personal guidance, not a program you decode alone.
I have an old injury or past surgery — is this safe for me?
This is exactly who I built it for. With a Master's in Kinesiology and 15 years in spinal biomechanics and post-surgical strengthening, I design around your real history — backs, discs, sciatica, and shoulder, knee, or hip replacements. We always start where you are, and I adjust the moment something doesn't feel right.
How much time does it take each week?
Your program is built around your life, not the other way around — most weeks are a couple of focused strength sessions plus your walking, all scaled to your schedule and energy. We set the rhythm together on your intake call.
What if I need to pause?
If a genuine illness or injury comes up during your three months, we can pause your program and pick back up when you're ready — your time isn't lost.
Do you offer refunds?
Because this is a limited, highly personal engagement, the coaching isn't refundable once we begin — which is exactly why we start with a free, no-pressure fit call. You get to be completely sure this is right for you before you ever commit a dollar.
What equipment do I need?
Whatever you already have. I build your plan around your setup — at home with resistance bands or dumbbells, or at the gym. We'll sort it out on your intake call so nothing stands in your way.
